In February 2006 I preordered an instrumental CD online with the anticipation similar to Ryan Gosling’s pause in the movie Drive after he was asked a question. ‘…just say something Already!’ The significance of the this CD was it’s release date which was on his 32nd birthday, 3 days before his untimely death. That album was Donuts.
J Dilla’s creativity is the foundation to my of ambition to create. His catalogue of beats go back to days when I first fell in love with hip-hop and it’s only fitting that my first ‘official’ blog post be dedicated to him. Although many words and music have already been created to pay homage to his legacy, I wanted to forward this Audio Documentary courtesy of http://www.bbc.co.uk and Ms. Rosa Tang @http://rosaoza.tumblr.com/. (Thank you for the FB post—yes, I read that.)
If you have a hour to spare while cleaning your room, washing your dishes, or even during your workout exercises, listen to this audio documentary. It just might inspire you, too.
R.I.P. J Dilla. Although MP3s has killed the CD player star, your album is still hanging up on my wall. Make’em, make ‘em, clap to this.
